Ludwigsburg Palace

The Ludwigsburg ensemble consisting of the residential palace, palace gardens and the pleasure palaces Favorite and Monrepos is one of the most outstanding artistic achievements of the 18th century.  With its absolutely splendid appointments, the residential palace is one of Europe's most impressive and extensive Baroque complexes and served as a residence for the Dukes and Kings of Württemberg.

With its four new museums, the palace landscape in Ludwigsburg has meanwhile achieved an international reputation.  Not only the Baroque rooms of the Residential Palace and Favorite Palace attract adults and children alike.  The Ceramics Museum (Keramikmuseum), with a collection of over 70,000 exhibits, is also highly respected among experts.  In the Fashion Museum (Modemuseum) a fashion show featuring clothing from the 18th century to the today is presented with the latest in museum technology.  The little palace within the palace, the Apartment of Duke Carl Eugen, shows the Duke's private rooms with original furnishings - probably the most sumptuous furniture and accessories of the entire palace.  In the Baroque Gallery (Barockgalerie) the uniquely beautiful works of German and Italian painters of the 17th and 18th centuries are just waiting to be discovered.  The many Event Rooms (Veranstaltungsräumen) are available for conferences, celebrations, visits to theater productions and much, much more.
