Who wouldn't like to have a look behind the magnificent facade of the state rooms?

At the Ludwigsburg residential palace such insights are possible. The palace administration offers special tours that leave the beaten path.

Staircases

First the visitors explore various staircases in the palace, from the Königstreppe (King's staircase) to the Dienerschaftsstiege (servant's stairways). Then they continue into the "Hinterzimmer" (back rooms) from the ground floor up to the attic. In the process, servants rooms, heating halls and Mundküchen (kitchens for preparing smaller meals) not usually accessible are seen and a room in which a large bathroom was once to be installed is shown.

Outside the regular palace tour a great deal is explained about the different inhabitants of the palace, e.g. their lifestyle and above all their functions within courtly life.

Cupid and amours

The object during the tours is to discover hidden treasures in all the "hidden splendor in unknown rooms". Who wouldn't want to risk a look through the keyhole when the frivolous, risqué world of the 18th century is concerned? In Ludwigsburg Palace there are traces of "Amor und Amouren" (Cupid and love affairs); sensual pictorial worlds of the late Baroque and Rococo.

King privately

When was the last time you had the chance to get to know a "king privately"? At Ludwigsburg Palace there is an opportunity to ask questions during the special tours, e.g. how did he spend his time? How did he treat the queen? Of course, your questions will also be answered!
